Our Vision
To achieve excellence in the quality of early childhood care and development in Sri Lanka, ensuring the holistic development of every child during the early years of life.
Building a Strong Foundation
for Every Sri Lankan Child
The Sri Lankan Early Childhood Care and Development Foundation (Sri Lanka ECCD Foundation) is a national-level, nonprofit-oriented organisation established with the aim of strengthening and advancing the early childhood care and development (ECCD) sector in Sri Lanka.
We believe that early childhood is the most important stage in a child’s life, laying the foundation for lifelong learning, health, well-being, social relationships and personal development. Every child deserves access to quality early childhood care, education and development opportunities that support their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, creative and moral development.
Our foundation seeks to bring together government institutions, early childhood development professionals, preschool teachers, preschool owners, parents, community organisations, professional associations, nonprofit organisations and other stakeholders to build a strong, inclusive and sustainable ECCD system throughout Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan Early Childhood Care and Development Foundation aspires to serve as a collaborative national platform that brings together the diverse stakeholders working in the early childhood sector.
We recognise that sustainable improvements in early childhood education require cooperation among government authorities, educational institutions, professional associations, teachers, parents, communities and development partners.
Rather than duplicating the responsibilities of existing institutions, we seek to complement their work, support their initiatives, facilitate collaboration and contribute to shared national goals.
Through collective action, continuous professional development, institutional strengthening and the promotion of quality practices, we aim to contribute to a stronger ECCD sector that provides every Sri Lankan child with a positive foundation for lifelong learning and successful development.
“Every child deserves a quality beginning. Every educator deserves opportunities for professional growth. Every ECCD institution deserves support to improve. Together, we can build a stronger foundation for Sri Lanka’s future.”
We invite government institutions, professional associations, preschool teachers’ organisations, ECCD centres, daycare providers, educational institutions, development partners and individuals committed to children’s well-being to collaborate with us.
Join us in strengthening early childhood care and development through collaboration, professional learning and a shared commitment to quality.
